Condition: Poor, very worn, no dust jacket. Boards intact, but binding slightly loose. It is an ex-library book from the Besant Memorial Library. The pages are clean and unmarked. It includes several black and white photographs. It is ostensibly fiction but draws extensively on the author’s first hand knowledge of the Middle and Near East. It is very probably the first western account of the origins of the Bahai Faith. E. S. Stevens is the maiden name of Lady Drower, the British cultural anthropologist who pioneered the study of the Mandean religion.

Condition: Clean, unmarked text pages; firm binding; minimal slant to binding; mild fading of gilt lettering of spine; slight foxing to edges of text block, endpapers and first and last few text pages; no dust jacket. In all a very good copy of this scarce limited edition of this seminal grimoire.
