This book has been produced in response to all those who contacted us for transcripts of the talks, and for an illustrated lists of works of the 2010 Austin Spare exhibition at the Cuming museum, London. It also features a transcript of Spare’s interview on BBC radio in 1955.
Whereas Cockney Visionary centred on the works in the collection of Southwark Council, this volume allows us finally to picture all the items in detail.
This includes exhibition images, a fully illustrated list of 110 works (including cabinet objects), and transcripts of the talks, complete with contextual images. A finalised patrons list (from Cockney Visionary) is also included, along with a selection of visitors’ reviews.
The exhibition’s sequence of self-portraits is recreated across a special fold-out double-sided dustjacket.
